Classroom News for the Week of November 10th

News and Upcoming Events: 

Week of 11/10 - 11/14 - Parent Conferences
Schedule Change: ALL WEEK - School is in session from 8:11 to 12:50 p.m. (No school Tuesday). Brunch will be served in the cafeteria from 10:00 to 10:30. No hot lunch will be served at school this week.

11/11 Veterans' Day - School Closed

11/12 Field Trip to Jet Propulsion Laboratory 
Students should eat a big breakfast and bring a small snack that they can eat quickly when we arrive at JPL. No containers please - a granola bar, piece of fruit, bag of chips, etc. would work best. Due to the minimum day schedule we will return to school at approximately 12:30. Students should bring a lunch to school to eat when we return. We will not be bringing lunches on the trip.

Permission Slip-  Your child will be bringing home a permission slip allowing him/her to watch the film version of Bridge to Terabithia on Friday 11/14. Please fill it out with your preference and return it to school immediately. Thank you!

11/14 - Science Quiz
Students will receive study notes for a short landform quiz on Friday. Students will receive study notes on Monday. Please review the notes a little each night.

* Tardies - Please make sure your child is at school and in line by the 8:06 bell. We try to start the school day at 8:11 promptly. Thank you for your help!

* Please check your child's Homework Log nightly and sign or initial after the work has been completed. Remind your child that completed homework and the HW log are due in class daily.

Multiplication Madness (Fact Practice) 

Language Arts:

This week we will finish Bridge to Terabithia. Students will be watching the film version of the book on either Friday or next Monday and will use Venn Diagrams/Thinking Maps to compare and contrast the two.

Students should be ready to take the AR quiz of the book on Thursday.

Writer's Workshop: Writing Personal and Persuasive Essays

This week's mini-lessons are: Writing an Essay Frame; Writing a Flash Draft

Please study the meanings and spellings of these ten words. You will have a quiz on Friday.
