Classroom News for the Week of May 20th


Updates and Notices:

May 21 Volunteer Tea MPR after school. Looking forward to seeing you!


May 23rd Field trip to MOCA. Please check your email this week for updates about this trip.  Currently we have 18 seats for children in private cars, but we will need at least 31. Thank you to all the parents who emailed me on Friday. I will let you know if the trip is on no later than Tuesday.

What's Going On In Class:


Math: 


Both Grades: Accelerated Math; Deductive Reasoning Exercises; End of the year math assessments (Friday).

Grade 4: Looking ahead to grade 5 skills: Order of Operations with Exponents

Grade 5: Review of grade 5 skills continued:Multiplying and Dividing Fractions


Writing:


Writing a Book Review (Summary and Opinion)

Reading:


Literature Circles: Students have finished their selected book and will work on classroom presentations this week. We will finish  The Black Stallion  and write book reviews.


Arts:

Origami lessons continued..."The Jumping Frog"

DBL: Design an NBS Product

Theater class with Ms. Beret (Wednesday): Improvisation continued...

Social Studies/ Science:


We are working on memorizing U.S. States and capitals.  Students should be memorizing the state names and capitals of the midwest states. Practice quiz Wed., Quiz on Friday.
