Classroom News for December 10th

News and Upcoming Events: 

Wow! This is definitely a busy time of year! If I don't get a chance to see you this week, I want to wish all of you a happy and healthy winter break. I am looking forward to everything slowing a bit and getting some time to relax and have fun with my family. I know your children are looking forward to the same with you! Enjoy!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported the Wolves on Wheels fundraiser, including our wonderful parent sellers! Mrs. Paz, Ms. Parra, Dr. Guanlao, and I really appreciate your support and are looking forward to a fun night with you in January! We will not be selling tickets in front of the school this week, but if you'd still like to make purchases you can send checks or cash to the classroom with your child and we sell tickets for the $20 price this week.

12/10:  Winter Program MPR - 10:45 am TK- 2 Families; 1:00 pm 3rd - 6th Families

  • What to wear: Dark pants or skirts, white or light colored shirts (buttons & collars if possible), party dresses. If you'd like to take it up a level and put a 50's/ rockabilly twist on any of that, go for it! We ask that students not wear clothing with large graphics, logos, words. No hats/ antlers/cat ears/ unicorn horns.


Project-Based Learning (PBL): What Makes Our State Special? Parents are invited and encouraged to attend as you make up our audience of potential travelers. We hope you can make it!

12/14 Grade 4 "At the Movies" Holiday Party. Turn in your PG permission slip!

12/17 - 1/4 Winter break. School resumes Monday, January 7th.


1/10 - Mission Project due. Outline of project requirements (2 pages) can be found under "Class Handouts" in the Link tab at right. Please note due date is Jan. 10th not Jan. 11th.


1/18 - Field Trip to Leonis Adobe Museum in Calabasas. We have 1 chaperone spot left. Please email me at slc5001@lausd.net if you are willing and able to supervise a student group. Chaperones are assigned on a first come/first serve basis. Please know you will need to drive your child to and back from the trip, and fill out an insurance waiver form. This trip involves significant standing and walking, and is entirely out of doors. Thank you for your help!

2/7 - Field Trip to JPL . We have 3 chaperone spots available. Please email me at slc5001@lausd.net if you are willing and able to supervise a student group. 
In your email - Please write your full legal name and your citizenship status (US citizenship/ Legal Permanent resident/ Green Card). JPL requires that I submit this information to them 6 weeks prior to our trip.  You will need to bring government issued ID on the day of this trip.

Chaperones are assigned on a first come/first serve basis. Please know you will need to drive your child and to and back from the trip, and fill out an insurance waiver form. This trip involves significant standing and walking. Thank you for your help!
